Description
Brûlée Royale is a sumptuous, limited-edition blended malt from Compass Box — a dramatic tribute to the dessert-inspired artistry of 17th-century pâtisserie. It marries whiskies from four Scottish distilleries (predominantly ex-bourbon and toasted American oak casks, plus custom deeply-charred oak) to deliver a dram that evokes the sweet, caramelised essence of crème brûlée.
Non-chill-filtered and naturally coloured, this blend was bottled in August 2025 with a strict global output of just 8,556 bottles — emphasising its exclusivity and collectability.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Expect an immediate wave of caramelised sugar crust — molten crème brûlée, scorched sugar brittle, fresh vanilla pods and poached pear — accompanied by softer pastry-like notes of buttery Danish flan.
- Palate: The mouthfeel is thick and velvety: rich clotted cream, honeyed malt, broiled peaches transitioning into custard-laden desserts and tarte Tatin — a decadent play of fruit, sugar, and creamy indulgence.
- Finish: Long, smooth and warming — lingering burnt toffee, gentle nutmeg spice, a hint of banana-split sweetness, and soft echoes of toasted sugar and vanilla.
Overall Character:
Brûlée Royale offers a voluptuous, dessert-styled whisky experience — opulent, sweet, and crafted for those who appreciate a rich, indulgent dram. With its pastry-like notes, complex layering, and artisanal cask work, it’s perfect as a contemplative sipper or as a luxurious after-dinner treat.
